Financial Controller – Maternity Cover
Term: Mar-Dec 2017 Fixed term contract

JOB ROLE

ALTER Agency is recruiting for an experienced, hard working, efficient Financial Controller with excellent attention to detail, to join our company on a Fixed Term Contract Covering Maternity Leave.

Working in the busy finance department, you will take sole charge of it and report into the CEO and director and will have responsibilities for a wide range of accounting and finance tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-4 year’s experience in this field, preferably within the marketing/media industry, agency side. Experience in Paprika will be an advantage.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurate and timely maintenance of 3 main ledgers:
    • Bank – posting and reconciliations (GBP/EURO Accounts/Credit Cards)
    • Accounts Payable and Managing Supplier relationships,
    • Customer Billing and Credit Control
  • Raising POs and posting invoices to the correct job codes / overheads
  • Monitoring job bags and WIP balances to ensure that all Fees & 3rd Party costs have been invoiced where possible, and checked with budgets
  • Preparing income report
  • Extraction of data from Paprika and manipulation in Excel to produce monthly management reports (with variance analysis) for the Board
  • Performing the necessary reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the accounting function
  • Maintaining FAR, Prepayments, Accruals etc. on a monthly basis
  • Monitoring bank transactions and compiling weekly cash flow forecast spread sheets for presentation and discussion with CEO
  • Weekly payment runs in accordance with company cash flow needs
  • Reconciling and filing the quarterly VAT return for UK and Ireland
  • Compiling payroll and amendments, payroll journals for all departments and jobs, working alongside external Payroll Company
  • Reconciling PAYE, NET Pay, NI, student loans, pension, childcare vouchers and file/distribute P45/P60/P11Ds accordingly, for both UK and Irish employees
  • Maintaining record of staff holidays, sick leave etc.
  • Maintaining ‘house’ supplier relationships – e.g. IT / Cleaning Co/ Insurers
  • Assisting HR Department with new employee paperwork/ contracts etc.

 

WHAT BACKGROUND OR SKILLS DO YOU NEED?
  • Fully AAT Qualified, Part qualified CIMA/ACCA or QBE working at similar level
  • Proficient bookkeeping /credit control and organisational skills
  • Quick to learn financial software package, knowledge of Paprika is advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Good communicator with personable approach and ability to build strong relationship with all levels of staff
  • Have experience of working directly into CEO
  • Be super organised and passionate about ensuring that work is completed to a high standard
  • Be flexible and versatile and have ‘can do ‘ approach
